The b.d. (breitfeld & daneck) 500 dohc design was introduced in 1927. it was a very novel design for the twenties, but it became a great succes, both because of its neat lines and its automatic lubrication system. at that time the rival firms were still struggling to get a single ohc engine oiltight and reliable! but remember that czech technology in the first part of the 20th century was very up to date, as is witnessed by this special and rare 1929 praga. the machine is fully restored to concours condition. |

| 1929 | Neumann-neander | Ernst Neumann-Neander founded the Neander Motorfahrzeug GmbH Düren-Rölsdorf in Düren in 1926. He designed the futuristic Neander-Rahmen (Neander frame), which was made from box-section Duralumin and had a unique design of pivoted front fork. From 1928 Opel also manufactured the same frame under licence, and it was very successful in motorcycle racing. Neander\'s own factory produced about 2,000 motorcycles before production ceased some time in the 1930s. | |

Beautifully restored, it is finished to a high standard in black and silver. bartali motorcycles, like their pedal powered cousins, were built to the highest standards, which undoubtedly resulted in a premium sales price whilst their low manufacturing volume made them vulnerable to the downturn in the market that occurred during the 1960's as people moved to four wheels. production ceased in 1961 making, which combined with the low numbers built ensures their rarity today. |

The scootacar was first manufactured in 1958 by the hunslett engineering company of leeds (uk). the vehicle was created by henry brown who had designed the scootacar around the body of an occupant sitting astride the engine. the body was made from fibreglass and attached to a steel chassis that included a steel floorpan. the vehicle was advertised as having a ""car-sized door"" and so access in and out of the scootacar involved no crouching as was needed in other 3-wheelers of the period. there were three versions; the mk 1, which was powered by a villiers 197cc air-cooled engine. in this version the driver sat astride the engine as on a motorcycle. in the mk2 a new body was designed that included and a car type chair for the rear passenger which was offset at 45 degrees. the mk 3 was powered by a larger twin-cylinder 324cc villiers engine. manufacture ceased in 1965. this picture was kindly provided by www.3wheelers.com. |
