Classic Bike Auction Treat…

40 classic motorcycles… some with zero mileage… a timespan of 41 years… a wide spread of genres and marques… estimated values from £500 to £100,000… all in immaculate condition…

Those are the bare facts of one of the most interesting, eclectic private collections of superbly-presented classic motorcycles to be consigned to an auction in recent times.  They will come to sale, in individual lots, at Historics major annual motorcycle auction at Brooklands Museum on Saturday, June 7.

Significantly, the vendor – who has amassed the superb collection over some 30 years – purchased the motorcycles according to their individual merits rather than be swayed by a set theme, marque, genre, age, or value.

The one thing they have in common is that they have all been fastidiously maintained and cosseted by the vendor in an indoor environment, more akin to a private museum than closed storage. As a result, Historics estimates that the total value of the collection is in excess of £375,000.

The oldest machine – and the most valuable in the collection – is a 1957 Gilera 500 Grand Prix Replica (Est £90,000-£110,000); the youngest a 1998 MV Agusta Magni  (£60,000-£70,000).

There are highlights in abundance between the two, no matter what one’s steer in classic motorcycles and the depth of the pocket.  A number of consignments are offered at No Reserve, including a 1967 Suzuki M12 Supersport and Rickman BSA B44 Trails Outfit, whilst highly affordable machines are plentiful in the £500 – £5,000 estimated price, and upwards.
