The Thunderfest is a speed time trial held at the lovely Darley Moor circuit, high in the Peak District of Derbyshire, near to Ashbourne.
The rider decides how fast he wants to go and then aims for that target speed. The target can be anywhere between 50mph and 75mph and the winner will be the person who manages an average speed nearest to their declared target. Road bikes, as well as race machines, are welcome to take part. Entries have been pouring in but we still have a few places available.
Thunderfest is primarily a social event – but with a lot of track time. This year, we intend increasing the social side so that it becomes even more of a classic bike party.
Here is a film from last year’s event:

Thunderfest is included in the Darley Moor Club’s day of modern club racing so we are very much guests of the club. However, Thunderfest is run as an event within an event and we have our own, classic only, area of the paddock and our own scrutineer.
Classic Bike Display
The Darley Moor Club is looking for classic bikes to be displayed as part of Thunderfest. This will be a relaxed affair in the classic paddock and there will be souvenirs for participants. The classic bikes will be displayed next to Thunderfest entrants so will be very much part of the event.
There is no entry fee and entrants to the classic bike display will get one vehicle admission pass and two free tickets.
