Flogged It Friday! MV Agusta 800 engine.
“That looks terminal?”
This MV800 triple engine managed 800 road miles before it dropped a valve. The valve was embedded in the cylinder head and miraculously the liner looks to be undamaged.
The piston is beyond help though.
The bike was weeks old, so a new engine was shipped from Italy to fulfil warranty responsibility. Would you really want an engine rebuilt in your new bike?
“Loads of good bits though.”
This engine isn’t alone in this mechanical mayhem. A quick nose around Google revealed plenty of MV owners who have suffered the same sadness. Worse, several were out of warranty!
This motor is now fit for parts use. I did think about making a coffee table out of it! Based on how clean it is.
“You sold it?”
I stuck it on eBay for £300 and after a few months I found a buyer! He races them and just wants to keep it for spares!
