Heading for Le CastelletFor the third year in a row, the mythical track of Paul Ricard will host the opening round of the ECS (European Classic Series). This will take place on 16 and 17 April in the framework of the Sunday Ride Classic. At the start of its fourth season, the European Classic Series introduces new regulations. Regulations that will please all non-professional teams, i.e. the majority of the teams in this championship. «Without these amateurs, our formula would not be as successful as it is today », DG Sport, the organizer, explains. «We want to strengthen the sportive attraction for these teams, who have a ranking of their own. It’s a race within the race.

In order to do this, three specific statutes have been created for the riders : Gold, Silver and Bronze, the first group being the ones with the most races under their belts. As to the teams, two categories have been created : Legend and Classic. The Legend teams will have mostly Gold and Silver riders whereas the Bronze teams will be privileged in the Classic category. The “age” criteria is still in force : a “young” rider under 30 years has to team up with an older rider of more than 50 years of age. Rewards that will also be granted in the framework of the Motul Challenge. The lubricant specialist and partner from the beginning will offer different prizes and endowments for the teams wearing its colours.

On the logistical side, the organizers are proud to offer the participants top of the art installations, as all teams will the housed in the stands alongside the start grid and will dispose of all modern comfort. Finally, the cherry on top of the cake for the French teams : a regular licence is sufficient to participate in the race.
