Production of the single cam CB750 ended in 1978 with the last of the K and F series machines being coded ‘78’ and offered for sale in the us and Canada, other markets being left to sell existing stocks of the previous season’s models. The demise of the single cam fours was the result of increased competition from machines built by Honda’s rivals, Yamaha offered the 75o triple and Kawasaki and Suzuki both offered twin cam fours in the class that outperformed the Honda. In response Honda released a new double overhead cam 750 for the 1979 season.
