From the moment it was launched, the Honda RC-30 was always an object of desire. We all know it’s a story that’s been trotted out by the media a zillion times.
It was built to do a job, to win races and boy did it deliver. Fast forward to the present day and if you want to own one, you’re going to have to dig deep. Prices are only going one way and that’s up! It’s more than a classic bike, it’s a design icon. Everything about it makes you want one. The looks, the heritage and the noise of that V4 motor are the icing on this very yummy cake. So who would slice one up? Carve away at that alloy tank? Chisel away at that lump of V4 metal. Honda love to show off their skills.
So what better way to do that than to get the grinder out on one of their most iconic designs. It went off on the bike show circuit and then once it was retired, it’s lead a dusty life within Honda UK. I saw it in the flesh last summer and took these up close photographs. The people at Honda who I spoke to had no idea what its future has in store, but if they’re stuck for ideas we’ll look after it for them.
