Former Isle of Man TT racer, Malc Wheeler, editor of Classic Racer magazine and associate director at Mortons Media Group, has been given one of motorcycle sport’s greatest honours when he was made President of the TT Riders’ Association recently.
At the association’s annual luncheon, held at the National Motorcycle Museum, Birmingham, the Lincolnshire man rode in on the Ducati TT2, which he raced in the 1984 TT, to a standing ovation from the 400 plus former TT riders and guests. In an emotional address he took the opportunity to thank all those who had helped during his racing career, especially in the Isle of Man TT.
Malc, who raced in the Isle of Man from 1974 to 1990, claiming three podiums along the way, said, “This honour is as big as it gets in motorcycle sport, and obviously it’s beyond my wildest dreams. The names on the chain of office, which dates back 62 years, amount to 145 TT wins and 41World Championships.”
He went on to add, “What made the day so special was having many of the people who helped during my time racing here to share it with me and to be able to thank them publicly. My aim is not just to raise funds for this great charity, but also to spend them on the many deserving cases that come to our attention.”
