Legends ready for action at Jerez Circuit – World GP Bike Legends

Legends ready for action at Jerez CircuitWhile riders like Freddie Spencer, Wayne Gardner, Kevin Schwantz and Loris Capirossi prepare to do battle on the track, the infield at Jerez has been transformed into a Mecca for bike racing fans. Trial shows and other two-wheeled entertainment will be running throughout the three days, while static displays of both classic and modern bikes will cater for all tastes.

With the legends heading out for free practice sessions on Friday, qualifying on Saturday and the headlining races on Sunday, plus several supporting classes also taking to the track, the action doesn’t stop from dawn till dusk.

Better still, once the chequered flags have flown on Friday and Saturday the party carries on. Live music from two top tribute acts – QueenMania and The ZZ Tops – will fill the arena on Friday, and on Saturday rocking really does meet racing as double World Superbike Champion James Toseland brings his band to Jerez. Topping the bill, though, is 80s music legend Bonnie Tyler who will headline the Saturday show in style. With an impressive catalogue of world-renowned hits, Tyler will ensure the event is legendary in the music aspect too.

GP Legend Freddie Spencer said: “It’s amazing to see this event coming together – I can’t wait to get on my bike and go racing. The circuit looks great, the weather is going to be perfect, the bikes and legends are ready, so let’s put on a special show for the fans!”

GP Legend Phil Read said: “The racing is going to be really close and exciting! It’s a breath of fresh air to see a classic event this well organised, and I think what we have here is the start of something really special. Thanks is in order to everyone who’s made this possible, and I hope it develops into a truly international series and fulfils the incredible potential here.”

Chris Wilson, a bike collector providing some of the iconic bikes for the legends to ride this weekend, said: “The enthusiasm and commitment of Goose Live Events has brought me here today. The opportunity to come to an event like this and be part of the beginning of what I really hope is going to be something very special was too good to miss. It is obviously a staggeringly good location, it is just a fantastic circuit – Jerez, Andalucia is beautiful but also packed with history. Everyone has been fantastic and I really look forward to this weekend.”

Nick Wigley, the Event Director, said: “We’ve got the weather, we’ve got the circuit, we’ve got the legends and we’ve got the festival! I’m really proud of the whole team for bringing World GP Bike Legends to life – it’s going to be a weekend to remember for everyone making the trip to Jerez Circuit.”

Tickets to World GP Bike Legends are available to purchase on the gate, with prices at €80 for the full three day festival and €65 for two days (Saturday and Sunday).
