New Arrival at Brooklands Museum

1923 Brough Superior SS80The Vintage Motorcycle Club has chosen Brooklands Museum as the place to display its Brough Superior SS80.  Our photograph shows VMCC President, Vic Blake with Motorcycle Team leader, John Bottomley on the day that the machine was handed over.

The machine is a 1923 model but it left the factory on 7th October 1922 and was sent to a Mr B.S.Allen of Croydon.  The Sturmey-Archer gearbox is a 1927 version, identical to the original.

The machine was left to the VMCC in 2011 by a long standing VMCC member, the late David Blanchard from Bexhill on Sea.

David had owned the machine since the early 1960s when he had acquired it as a “kit of parts”. The Machine underwent a full restoration during late 2011/early 2012 by Brough expert Dave Clarke.

Vic Blake said that the VMCC is delighted that the bike is at Brooklands where Brough Superiors set so many records, including the all-time Outer Circuit lap record of 124.31 mph.
