Petronas FP1 ornament

Foggy Petronas F1 BikeHeading back from a productive business lunch yesterday I stopped off at the SportsBikeShop just outside Boston on the A16  to take advantage of their excellent restroom facilities.

Inside their ample industrial unit you are greeted by an array of motorcycle clothing and clobber.

My Frank Thomas jacket that I purchased  from the BMF show years back is still going strong, so instead of fingering coats I grabbed a few pictures of this rare beast.

The accompanying bumf that sat beside this Petronas FP1 informed me it’s only covered 10 miles from new. The 899.5 cc wonder never lived up to its WSBK expectations, shame really.

Petronas FP1The FP1 was armed with all the weapons of its early noughties era, but it wasn’t enough to be a serious contender.

There’s been no end of tales about what happed to the rest of the 150 road bikes, ranging from them being stored in a bunker in Essex, to them having all been shipped back to Malaysia and crushed!

Here’s a few snaps I took of this survivor.
