After the good news regarding the participation of Freddie Spencer at the 200 Miglia di Imola Revival, which will take place on the track of Enzo and Dino Ferrari on the 19th, 20th and 21st of April 2013, two other names are confirmed on the participants list of this fourth edition: Phil Read and Kork Ballington.
These two world stars stand between the both of them for not less than eleven world titles.
A Suzuki RG 500 (1981) from Racing Team Santa Colomba will serve for Phil Read, seven-fold world champion, nearly 50 years after the very first international title in his legendary career (Yamaha, 250 cc, 1964). In 1968 the Englishman realised a double dream by taking titles in both 125cc and 250cc categories for the brand with the three tuning forks. This before he wrote his name in the history books of MV Agusta. With these Italian thoroughbreds, Read won the titles in the Queen category in 1973 and 1974, making him the most important rival of Giacomo Agostini.
A Kawasaki 500 (1981) from Team Kawasaki Flavio Frighi will be for Kork Ballington, one of the most representative riders in the history of the Japanese brand. Aboard his Kawa, the South-African took four world titles in 1978 and 1979, with two double victories in both 250 and 350 categories.
Organiser Christian Jupsin from DG Sport says « to be very happy to be able to confirm two other world champions alongside Freddie Spencer. We are very pleased to bring fourteen world titles to Imola, especially for a crowd as passionate as the Emilie-Romagnons. The greatest heroes from the history of motorcycle racing once rode on the track of Imola and with this fourth edition of the 200 Miglia di Imola Revival, we hope to honour this more than 60 year old love story.
