Thundersprint organiser Frank Melling has been forced to close the entry list for this weekend’s mammoth event so great is the number of riders wanting to take part.
Frank said: “As a rider myself, I take no pleasure in having to refuse entries but we just can’t cope with any more applications. Even the reserve list is full to bursting and I think that if we accepted even one more entry we would sink Anglesey!
“It’s not only the number of entries which has been so pleasing but the range and quality. Naturally, we have our normal world class classic entries led by six times World Champion Jim Redman, riding a fantastic Honda 4, and European Champion Sammy Miller with his legendary supercharged AJS V4. But supporting these racing greats is our best ever entry of top classic racers on everything from heavy metal, big bore Triumph triples to screaming 50cc GP racers.
“At the other end, we are delighted to see so many young riders in the Thundersprint with a vast range of bikes from the latest 125s all the way to Superbike star James Ellison who will be strutting his stuff on the formidable Tamworth Yamaha R1.
“Lunch-time will see a three lap History of Motorcycling Cavalcade featuring over 200 classic and modern bikes and there are a further 100 superb classic bikes on display in the paddock.
“Add to this loads to do for the kids, a Fine Food court, huge trade area and of course the one and only Rolo – the world’s most intelligent sheep. And you don’t see her performing at MotoGP.”
